Winter Storm Watch and Ice Storm Warning Please be advised that heavy inclement winter weather is expected to impact parts of Central and North Georgia, particularly north of the I-20 corridor, from Saturday, January 24, through Monday, January 26.

The forecast includes a hazardous mix of freezing rain and snow, which may lead to black ice. These conditions are anticipated to persist into Monday morning. An ice storm warning is also in effect for Central and North Georgia from Saturday morning, 1/24, through Monday morning, 1/26.

Motorists are strongly urged to avoid non-essential travel. For 24/7 assistance and to report any road hazards, please call 511. You can also visit 511ga.org for real-time updates on road and weather conditions.

Rest Area 9 Closed -I-75 S at Exit 78 Due to maintenance issues, Rest Area 9, located near the Turner County area will be closed until 1/30/26. 

Location: I-75 S at Exit 78

Motorists are encouraged to use 511GA's map services to view other rest areas nearby.

Express Lane Closures Due to Winter Weather (1.24.26) The Express Lanes System will be closed at the following times on Saturday, January 24, 2026, due to the anticipated winter storm.
 
  • I-75 Northwest Corridor Express Lanes to be closed at 11:00 AM.
  • I-75 South Metro Express Lanes to be closed at 12:00 pm.
  • I-85 Express Lanes to be closed at 12:00 pm
 
All express lanes will reopen once conditions are confirmed to be clear and safe for travel. Motorists can visit the Peach Pass website for additional information.

Crash: Troup County; SR 14 E/W at Tin Bridge Rd All lanes are blocked eastbound/westbound SR 14 at Tin Bridge Rd (mm 27.09) due to a multiple vehicle crash in Troup County.  Emergency responders are currently working to reopen the lanes as quickly and as safely as possible. Motorist are strongly encouraged to avoid this area and seek an alternate route in order to avoid extreme delays. For more information, please call 511 or continue to check www.511ga.org
